interior design trials, triumphs, and inspirations
ORC week 4 spring 2017
April 27, 2017
I must start by saying, rain rain go away, please come back another day...preferably between the hours of 12 and 6 am! Our Atlanta struggle has been real this week with on and off rain...This does not make an outside renovation project easy. Despite the fun game of red light, green light I have going on with Mother Nature (she is winning at the moment), we have managed to get a ton accomplished this week! Let us consult our list and see where we started week FOUR...
1. Hang Pizza sign ✔️ 2. Clean wicker furniture ✔️ 3. Patio rug (ordered)... 4. Cushions ✔️ 5. Planters 6. Lights✔️ 7. Set light posts and hang lights 8. Dining table (sourced)... 9. Cooler table 10. Cover the face of the concrete pad 11. Outdoor kitchen 12. Chaise lounge (sourced)... 13. ACCESSORIES! ✔️
I am happy to see how many more checks we have this week! We have both our patio rugs, one for our seating/lounging area and another for our brand new dining set! This was for sure the largest thrill of the week; my husband surprised me with the dining table and chairs we both fell in love with from Home Depot.
This chair is one of six, and the design is so good I would be happy to use this as a piece in my living room!
The set is beautiful and it coordinates perfect with the color of our wicker seating and ottoman fabrics in our lounge area.
This was another project completed in week four! My beautiful Sunbrella fabric arrived from Ballard Designs in no time. This stripe is classic and it was on clearance for $10 per yard! I added that to the cart fast because Sunbrella rarely comes at that price. I removed one side of faded print from the original ottoman cover and reattached the Sunbrella fabric. I kept the bottom of the ottoman as it was because it is the same tan color as our wicker dining chairs and it works both spaces together.
The final accomplishment this week was prep for our outdoor lights.
We started with 8ft landscape timbers, and five gallon buckets. Set the timbers in concrete inside the buckets and then set the buckets inside these perfect white planters!
I have three planters along the backside of our concrete pad; I am hoping that once they are filled with greenery, they will visually serve as a half-wall. We are now going to string our lights from the timbers to our existing patio roof. I am anxious to finish this project; but for now I am keeping my fingers crossed for a dry evening...
Here is one more picture of pretty...
