ORC Fall 2017 Week ?...
October 26, 2017
Hello Everyone! We are currently living ORC HISTORY. For the first time in six years of the ORC, there is an OFFICIAL final reveal extension. Gasp! Shock! Ugly Cry! Dancing in the streets...or Cul-de-sac!
The very thoughtful creators and operators of the ORC have offered this extension because of the many natural disasters occurring nationwide, which in turn have impacted deliveries, product availability and many individuals personal time. I am most definitely happy to have the extra time, especially because I fell off my two items per week timeline.
This week, the DIYs began in our dining room and I feel very excited about their progress. After polling the audience about color selection and painting my Chinese Chippendale chairs, I decided to jump head first into an unexpected color: Hermés Orange.
We are (almost) halfway finished, and any insecurities I had disappeared with each coat of this citrus hue.
This color is so beautiful and I feel it will look INCREDIBLE with the inky-blue fabric I have selected for seat cushions.
...and if I didn't feel confident enough about my choice; this GORGEOUS photo from Chinoiserie Chic came into my Pinterest feed this morning.
The other bit of progress I made was laying out new additions to the plate wall. This area is only being modified versus completely made over. I decided today that this vintage, gold mirror will be receiving a high gloss white frame, which I am hoping will modernize this corner a bit. I have always loved plate walls but I worry about this design detail reading traditional and the hubs not enjoying its overall look...after all, he lives here too! Enter high gloss white and classic blue and white...
I have collected a few state plates with sentimental meaning but I think they are too kitschy for the direction this clean energized dining room is headed.
I have ordered a couple modern printed plates from H&M, which will round out this wall. The state plates will be replaced with Blue Willow and hopefully this little wall will become a stunner.
That is all for this week! Thank you to everyone who stopped in to read and a great big thank you to the ORC and Linda from Calling it Home...especially for the early Christmas gift of an extra week. Don't forget to stop in and check the progress on all the other bloggers, here.
