Summer Cocktail Series No. 6 The Chilly Tilly
July 28, 2018
At this point in Summer, time seems to be flying past at a swifter pace. School is around the corner, and soaking up the last of the free season is on the top of our todo lists. So we need an easy drink (which preferably requires little dish washing after making) to sip and enjoy! Enter The Chilly Tilly, which is an iced version of the classic Hotty Toddy.
This drink requires one pot to boil water, and then one ball jar with lid to become your shaker/drinking glass combo. So simple and easy to clean!
Boil one and a half cups of water, then pour your hot water into your Ball jar along with three bags of herbal tea. Traditionally you would use Chamomile tea but I used a White tea and it was delicious. Add two tablespoons lemon juice, two tablespoons whiskey, and one tablespoon honey into your jar. I just purchased this incredible honey while on vacation in Townsend, Tennessee; the jar and the flavor are equally beautiful.
Here comes the hard part...screw the metal lids into place and let steep for three minutes. Then shake your cocktail, remove the metal lids, add ice and sip away; you can add lemon slices as a garnish if you wish or you can head straight to the front porch, drink in hand as is! Chin Chin to your weekend and living in the Southern Summer sun!
