Summer Cocktail Series No. 7 Bloody Mary's G&T
August 4, 2018
Hello everyone and welcome to The Fetching Georgian blog! We have been mixing some yummy cocktails to enhance your summer soirées (even if they are just a party of one on a screened porch).
Even though Fall doesn't begin until September 22, it feels like Summer is fading with the starting of school and schedules and sports and... you get the idea, right? But let's savor the remainder of the season with this savory cocktail featuring one of summers gems.: the tomato! There is nothing like a homegrown southern summer tomato; so if your garden has been good to you, treat your self with one of these bevys.
This is Bloody Mary's Gin & Tonic. Now Bloody Mary likes a little spice and a lot of flavor, so this recipe calls for: your favorite hot sauce (obviously Franks), lime juice, and soy sauce (you can sub worchestireshire), and a half cup of cherry tomatoes coursely chopped.
The main part of this concoction is the classic pair of Gin and Tonic. As a garnish and additional layer of flavor slice some cucumber and float on top or wedge the rim of your glass.
Grab any 12 oz glass, slice one of your tomatoes and rub along the rim. Then dip your tomatoed rim in the steak seasoning of your choice (I happened to have Famous Dave's on hand and it adds a touch of brown sugar flavor to this savory sipper).
Add your 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes to the bottom of your glass and lightly muddle with a spoon. Then add 2 two tablespoons of Gin and 1/4 cup of Tonic water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce, one teaspoon Franks (less if you prefer less spice), and two tablespoons of lime juice. Crack some black pepper over the mixture. Toss in some ice cubes and cucumber slices, and then stir, sip, repeat!
As always Chin Chin to your weekend and the fading Summer sun!
