One Room Challenge Fall 2018 Week Four
October 28, 2018
Hey y’all! I am getting this post up late but it doesn’t mean there is a shortage of pretty things to share. I can briefly show everyone some of the little accessories which will be appearing in this powder room, and quickly share the inevitable “change of plans” that happened in the space...
If you recall, my original plans for this space included a wire storage rack to fit under/around the pedestal sink. I also planned on covering this functional piece of storage with a pretty sink skirt: this is where plans have changed. After checking how the storage rack would sit under the sink, I realized the skirt would not work. I am a fan of functionality but the thought of staring in at a rack with various amounts of toilet paper did not sit well, so a new plan was needed.
Enter the pretty board: I will be moving in a taller side table ( 5 .) to set beside the sink. This flat space will allow me to bring in a candle (a must for any communal restroom area), and the most adorable brass menagerie to accompany said candle. I happened to get this Lilly Pulitzer for Pottery Barn turtle (1.) on sale and it’s shell bowl will be the perfect place to store some cute matches. The ( 2. ) golden crane is at Hobby Lobby and it was so beautiful I couldn’t resist. A Capri Blue ( 3 .) mercury glass candle will add a touch of vintage glamour and incredible scent! Under the table I will place my nifty and very thrifty ( 6.) toilet paper holder. As you can see in the display, it will hold three rolls at a time, which should work well for this space. My ( 4 .) monogrammed hand towel is from Albia Embroidery on Etsy. The final pieces will be these ( 7 .) acrylic floating frames I found on CLEARANCE at Hobby Lobby. The original hardware was silver but a quick visit with the Rustoleum Gold spray paint and voila!
These frames lead to my next question: Where do you put the artwork in this space?
Do you put the art above the toilet perpendicularly or on the wall across from the toilet horizontally? I lean towards over the toilet simply because The frames would be visible from the hallway and I like to see pretty things in my house. What are your thoughts though? Thanks for stopping and reading, and as always make sure to follow along with all the other ORC bloggers .
